All our programmes are accredited through the AQA Unit Award Scheme and are unit accredited so a service user can achieve one or any number units from across the range of programmes.

There is a range of programmers and units available for use with service users, this list is constantly being added to and it is necessary to check back with the website for developments:
  • Practical Housing Units (PHU). These are the ten core units we are best known for. The achievement of PHU is accepted by many Local Authorities and housing providers as an objective measurement of readiness to move on and proof of engagement. Follow this link for more details.
  • ‘Introductory units’. These is a group of 7 units written as an introduction to the core units and used in places where the service user would not be able to fulfil some of the original outcomes. This includes people in prisons or in places when they don’t hold a ‘proper tenancy’.
  • Employment units. These units are designed to give the candidate a certificated reference and can be shown to employers proving employability. They can be achieved in any work environment and are typically used on work experience, volunteering and unpaid work schemes.
  • Parenting units. These are designed to support the development of parents and focus on the preparation for birth and the immediate time after the birth of a child.
  • Living as part of a group. Shared living, rules, policies and procedures.
  • Personal time management. Planning and using time effectively.
  • Basic maintenance and domestic routine. Looking after a tenancy.
  • Substance misuse. This is a suite of units focusing on an educational response to difficulties arising form the use of drink and drugs.
  • Health and wellbeing. Sexual and mental health awareness, exercise etc
  • Staff development. These units accredit the development of staff as they deliver and assess our units.

Alcohol units. This new programme is designed to highlight service users issues with alcohol, increase awareness of the harm that might be caused through over consumption as well as reducing the amounts and frequency of consumption where it is decided that there is a problem or opportunity to develop greater control. The programme format works over three distinct levels. Click here for more information.

Bespoke unit development.

"The units are a good tool to focus the service user on issues that are pertinent their development. When things arise that need to be tackled, we can use the units as the vehicle for engagement in the issues. DCHA"
